I imagine EA had to do this because I'm pretty sure if the gamer sued EA he'd win. He might not win much, but he'd win and make EA look like total arseholes. No, wait, they already look like total arseholes. He'd subject them to a major public humiliation. At least this way the embarassment is limited only to gamers who hang out online.
