His case pokes a hole in the law, because he'll be 15 by the time the trial's done at this rate, and if tried as a kid he'll be up for 6 years for a double homicide (out at 21), but it sounds equally cruel to get a life sentence from Age 11 (since he's been in a YDC since then it would basically be the case), and waste his entire life on nothing. Really the law should adjust for cases like this. Keeping him till age 30 would sober him up moreso than releasing a surly 21-year-old into the world, but condemning him to life at this point would be the same as killing him |
