I think I'm going to go with Neverwinter nights 2 platinum edition on Steam. I played baldurs gate but bypassed NWN when I stopped PC gaming for a while. It looks like a good place to start and hopefully by the time I'm done with it there will be something new on the horizon that follows the D/D rules or something similar.
