It's because they want to sue Geohotz in California.
The subpeona is for finding people who lived in California and saw this stuff, so they can add them to the suit... and tie Hotz to California.
It was granted because Hotz lawyers decided not to fight it,
If you don't live in california and went to that site... your probably fine.
If you do though... you might get sued. This is basically just another proof of the stupiditity of IP laws.
Technically Sony has included the right to sue "Anybody or any website who have posted or transfered the keys."
Which means, for example, if soemone were to post a link to the keys here on VGchartz... Sony would include the right to sue the poster and vgchartz.
