Backwards compatibility is the ability to play my software I bought on my old system, this means my retail titles, you know the ones that everyone buys? Or lest we forgotten how not ever PSP title is on PSN nor is most PSP owners even connected to the net, this is the very reason the PSP Go was a commercial failure, period. Backwards compatibility is NOT N-O-T rebuying titles you already own online to be able to play them again. You can check out Reality Fighters and Smart As in Sony's video. Riviting game play I saw there... I guess you don't seem to understand that high end current gen titles are being ported over to the 3DS already and was done in no time to test the specs of the system, will it beat the NGP in raw power? Hell no but no one has been claiming that this entire thread, will it be able to share PS3 and 360 ports if a developer chooses to do so like they did with the PSP and PS2? Yeah sure as long as you're not like Epic Games and don't even attempt. And I simply do not have to explain why your last couple of paragraphs are just wrong, I just need one simple chart. http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=Pokemon&publisher=&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total Yes that's right the original Pokemon, the very first, without any IP to build off of, is STILL the best selling title in the series. Love how I didn't even mention Zelda either Or how bout them thar touch generation titles? All new IPs... Which goes back to the main point, good quality portable titles that are meant to be played on the go, and that's rooted into the very design of the title rather than if it would live up to stationary console standards, since what people want on the go is different from what they want when they can spend an afternoon indoors to play games. Pokemon on handhelds = huge success, pokemon on home consoles? Not so much. Gran Turismo on home consoles = huge success, GT on handheld? Not so much. Sony's issue is addressing what people want on the go, not your typical "quality" scale. Nothing is "bleak" about the NGP this is you assuming that someone bringing up some issuses is some sort of bleak portrait, no one is short changing the system, though hopefully that slide Sony put up about NGP cart size being 2 to 4 GB is just a launch size rather than maxing out at 4gb, else that would be a serious problem for the NGP. |
When you start calling someone else's post crap, you have lost. Maxwell, you have lost, I award you no points.
Again you claim I do not understand... You said the NGP and 3ds are comparable. You are wrong wrong wrong. The NGP far exceeds the 3ds to the point where full fudged 3ds titles will be mire downloads. You also claimed that the ngp was comparable to the 3ds and that the massive power the ngp has at it's disposal and I quote "what does it matter [derp]?" It means that xbox and ps3 games can potentially come to the ngp... In Kojima's little speech he gave at the NGP press event, he stated he wants to make a ps3 game that can be transferred and played on the fly. I bet he will someday achieve this. And guess what? It's all due to the NGPs power that you said, and I quote, "what does it matter [derp]"
Guess a hell of a lot...
And FYI, nice straw man there. I never said games can't make mega franchises at the get go. GT did it. I said that there were multiple factors that needed to occur. Basic reading comprehension should have told you this... guess not for you...
I don't understand what we're arguing at this point... your initial claim was that the NGP did not have these magic 'pick up and play' games that Nintendo only seems to have in your very flawed opinion. This statement was corrected with concrete fact. Is this not true or do you need me tor repeat my earlier post for you?
Also, BC is the ability to play games of previous generations that you own on the next gen console... you can do that with the NGP with a playstation account... you are wrong and you will continue to be wrong as long as you maintain that the NGP does not have backwards compatibility... But I suppose your right that it can't play those blasted umds... so I guess it's partially BC? Ahh but still BC
Oh btw, just look at this riveting Steel Diver gameplay!!!
And all that for the low price of 40 bucks
