Pokemon is one of the most simple, yet complex series out there. Most children play it casually, trying to fill their Pokedex and raising their favorite starters to level 100, but when you get into the competitive scene, your outlook for Pokemon changes completely. Competitive Pokemon is more "hardcore" than CoD, Gears, etc because it is so complex. It is easy to play a game where you pick a gun and go Rambo, but it is near impossible to make a team of 6 in competitive Pokemon that has perfect synergy. In fact, I think it's impossible. This is why I love Pokemon.
