Finally finished my first run through Dragon Age. Played as a mage. Always take a thief into the final battle. I went with a 2 tanker 2 mage combo but I think 1 tanker, 1 thief and 2 mages would be better.
I really screwed up with the lyrium potion preservation through in the game so I had bugger all left going to the final battle. I was desperatly trying to find somewhere to by loads of lyrium dust but it's a pretty rare commodity. I also had tactics slots for taking taking health poultice in each of the character so I ended up chewing through them too fast in the final battle to the point where I totally ran out with still a fair bit of work to do. Made it through by the skin of my teeth and would have been totally pwned if I was playing on a higher difficulty setting.
Gonna be a bowmaster Dwarven bardic assassin rogue next.
