I don't understand what point you're trying to make here. Single platform console exclusives are usually at least partially funded by the console manufacturer to try and drive hardware sales. If they weren't money-hatted, I doubt they'd get made as it's simply too expensive and risky not to go multi-platform to maximise sales, which is why EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, and God knows how many others don't restrict themselves to a single platform.

By contrast, the PC doesn't have a central controlling company with deep pockets, and yet it still gets more exclusives than all the consoles combined, some of which will have comparable budgets to the big exclusives of 5 or 10 years ago. There simply never were $50 million PC exclusives, so it's not something that's suddenly dried up- as development costs have risen, it's become too risky to just release for a single platform, unless of course you've got the backing of MS or Sony.

As for your comments about retail, of what possible relevance is the number of people that work in it? Surely that's more an indictment of how inefficient it is when compared to DD? Also, you do realise that the fall in bricks and mortar retail revenue has been more than made up for by a corresponding increase in DD revenue?
