It's 1%.

I seriously have no idea about the rest of the story.

Sorry I really suck at Math, I just corrected it!

Still 82 men is a heck of alot to loose in a matter of a week or so!

In olden times at the battle of Somme half a million people died in a day, but that was old warfare.

Modern warfare has substantial losses and you are right in the respect that it is quite alot of soldiers to lose in a week when compared to the situation in Afghanistan, but then again I don't think that the AU soldiers are anywhere as trained and have as sophisticated equipment as say the UN forces in Afghanistan, so it's sort of understandable but still a bit surprising.

Indeed, but then again, we only know the losses of our troops. We don't really get figures of how frequently the Taliban take losses... and I'll imagine that it's probably a lot higher than ours.

Well if the official figures for Taliban casualties are released and they have not that bad of a ratio, I am talking like 3-5 taliban deaths per soldier then that'll likely come as a blow if anything, for such a sophisticated force to be fighting and not gaining much headway is quite a morale killer, I am sure people will question the need to continue the war if a much less experienced force that only has the advantage of knowing the area, no air support, no sophisticated equipment that costs taxpayer billions annually is worth bringing democracy to a country that will only likely maintain it while there is western presence. War is pointless.
