It's the masses called the consumers that decide if a product is "doomed" or not. Not an individual's opinion.

All this bigging up of a devices hardware don't mean shit if the masses don't buy it. You can produce the most powerful console with the best graphics ever invented but if very few people buy it what's the profit.

Have you not yet realise that this is the generation of the "gimmick"?

Why did MS release Kinect and Sony the Move? Because they caught on to that fact after wii's success.

Nintendo is doing something new again because no console has ever had 3D out the box (regardless of the quality of the graphics). No special TV or glasses required.

3D is the DS's "gimmick" and marketing tool as the wii-remote was the wii's, what is PSP2's?

Sony is just doing their usual, bigger, faster, stronger thing without adding any real innovations or most importantly, no "gimmick". They are showing themselves to be slow learners yet again.

That suits some people (mainly hardcore gamers) but the as MS proved by releasing Kinect the hardcore gamer must now share that console with the casual gamer, because it pays to have both types and ultimately it the money that talks.

The days of the hardcore only console (or NGP) are quickly passing into history. Welcome to the age of "the gimmick".

NB: I do not use the word "gimmick" in a derogatory sense. I just find it funny how the word was thrown around after the launch of the wii and now every console has one. Pure irony.
