It's ignorant to say that the DS overtook the PSP just by having 2 screens and touch screen. It was dominant because it had a better library of games, appealed to EVERYONE, was innovative and wasn't overpriced. Not to mention it didn't have a crappy media format (UMD). The PSP simply didn't have the software to support it. Sure it has good games, but not enough. I own both, but I play the DS far more than my PSP.
As for the future of handhelds....it depends on the price of the NGP. If it's more than $250, then I'm sorry, it will lose. Which would be too bad if it is, because it looks innovative and fun, plus it has Uncharted. But Nintendo has the jump on them, so I guess we'll see if Sony can catch up yet again...
