Nothing devastating, but I barely avoided going blind in one eye when I was a kid. Playing football (soccer) in the back yard, kicked the ball, ran after it, tripped over and fell face-first into a brick that was propping up one side of my dad's shed. If I had hit it about an inch further down my face I could've gone blind in my left eye.
