I recommend the Great Gatsby and Lord of the Flies, both old books but they are classics for a reason. The Great Gatsby appears as a love story to begin with but it's more than that, its a critical view on the abandoment of moral in America in the 1920s. Intresting, humourous and very haunting.

Lord of the Flies you should really look up ,and read.

I've been meaning to read The Great Gatsby. Heard that it's an amazing book, though I don't know much abiut the plot, other than the action takes place during the prohibition. It's very short though, so I'll definately pick it up eventually.

I saw a movie adpatation of The Lord of the Flies, and quite frankly it seemed kinda ridiculous to me. Creepy, disturbing, and silly. Didn't like it.

The Cathcer in the Rye is another great Amarican novel. The fact that it's written from the POV of a teenager may help people on this site resonate with the character (even though I hope most won't identify with his whinning).
