I don't know, I guess it depends on the person playing.

I have yet to decide I dislike a game because of bad story. Like Halo 3 is quite a mess story wise but its one of my favorite games this gen...

To me, a bunch of great set pieces in a shooter and good gunplay immediatly erase hours of bad story and dialoge our of my memory.

my favorite element in a game is the story, so if its bad i wont like the game.

I'm not sure you are giving the story enough credit though...

Minor spoilers: Grayson (main character) is a drunken, ex-miliatry dude who is framed (along with his team) for mass murder.  Ishii (half-robot guy) was almost killed by a decision Grayson made and is fighting the AI from taking over his personality completely.

The scene you are referring too (in the elevator) is a Ishii expressing his self-control over the AI in a total dead-pan way.  It was not only pretty funny, but actually fairly smartly written.

Now I can acknowledge you not liking the game or the story, that is not only fair, it's reasonable, different strokes for different folks.  Can YOU acknowledge that someone above the age of 4 might actually see beyond the jokes to the meaning underneath?
