I don't know, I guess it depends on the person playing.
I have yet to decide I dislike a game because of bad story. Like Halo 3 is quite a mess story wise but its one of my favorite games this gen...
To me, a bunch of great set pieces in a shooter and good gunplay immediatly erase hours of bad story and dialoge our of my memory.
