i'm not going to sugar coat this, MS will be at a disadvantage when it comes to innovating. 'fucking microsoft' is probably one of the most common phrases spoken in english. fair or unfair isn't the point -- any time anything goes wrong on a computer everyone always blames microsoft. they've got quite the sigma against them.
