Why all the FPS hate?

People think they have the ultimate answer here, claiming jealousy, but it's not always a simple answer:

I play games to escape real life, to do stuff that for instance breaks the laws of physics, but FPSes are working towards becoming more and more like real life, hence my disinterest for them.
