The first game of the year to recieve the ban hammer in Australia under the no adult rating classification system.
An article found at ign states the following
"According to reliable retail sources, the much-anticipated fighting game reboot, Mortal Kombat, has been refused classification (RC) by the Australian Classification Board.
Our source, who requested to remain anonymous, received an email stating the game "will not be released in Australia."
It also requested the retail outlet remove all references to the game - signage and display cases - as well as cancel all preorders in Australia.
The email added that the decision might be overturned in the future, but these steps were currently necessary.
An official statement is forthcoming from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. We've sought official comment and will update the story as facts emerge."

This takes me back to the time when the original came out and people started ripping the heards of each other in violent fits of game induced rage. Oh wait thats a load of bullshit just like this game being banned and living what is supposedly a free country yet actively denies me content they themselves admit is appropriate.
