Why would they lower the price of the older models? If they were to release a new SKU with increased security, the best thing to do would be to make the two as interchangeable as possible on the shelves until the new ones are completely phased in, as to make it harder for potential hackers to spot the weaker SKU.

At any rate, what others have said is true, there are 50 million hackable PS3s out there, and it has probably reached 60-70% of its lifetime sales... a new SKU with extra security would be null and void, at this point, particularly if the only thing it does is new security... if they whack some new features in there, it would be more effective, but only slightly.
