We all know the prime reason:
Nintendo consoles ever since the transition from the SNES to the N64 have been on a 5 year life span. Super Nintendo was released in 1991 (6 years after the NES released in NA), N64 released in 1996, Gamecube released in 2001, and the Wii released in 2006.
Following tradition, we should have the Wii 2 released this year. Yet, Nintendo for some reason or another is putting their hopes of profit in 2011 on a hand-held. Yes, I say that with all demeaning intent because hand-helds are not and never will give the same experience and awe a console will. We should not be belittled and cheated with a hand-held in 2011, we should be spoiled with a Wii 2.
Every sale the Wii makes this year is one from beyond the grave. Celebrate each and every Wii sold in 2011 because we haven't seen a Nintendo console this long since the NES.
The Wii has run it's course. There is no fall from grace.
