Hrm... I'm mostly a classic-JRPG fan. I like the values of old- lots of gameplay, story may be weak, but the game keeps going. I hate having to go through several FMVs in a game; I'd rather they be removed and make room for more game. I feel that these games give me the most value for my purchase.
However, there are several other genres I like to play. Some turn-based strategy (ala Fire Emblem) are great, some puzzle games (Tetris, Droplitz) are dangerously addictive, some old-school adventure or action/adventure (Zelda 1, Startropics) games are also quite enjoyable, and even the occasional platformer keep me playing. But I usually gravitate back to my RPGs...
