Icyedge has his misinterpreted the sequence of postingfacts.

 

1. geohot did NOT release a custom firmware

2. geohot DID release the tools needed to make a custom firmware

 

There is a massive difference in the eyes of the law on this!

 

Further, the custom firmware that an end user creates using HIS tools containg no Sony code whatsoever had added features to PREVENT piracy. geohot is one of the worlds top hackers, the code he added to prevent piracy was some serious heavy duty stuff. It took the hacking community 2 weeks to open it up. Which is a long time considering the code was all there available to view as the tools neccasary to decrypt Sony firmware were already available.

 

 

It's a shame some members here can't differentiate, or more embarrasingly...understand!!! what has been happening here. Not a dig at you dsister, but it seems you were too trusting of Icyedge who got the wrong idea and decided to form a post with incorrect information that is actually all available in the thread.
