Just more annoying drm, with less and less offline functionality in games. Less single player, more paid for / subscription based multiplayer.
It will just hasten the move to not actually owning any of the software you buy. No more chance to replay your old games in 10 years time when all the drm servers are gone.
But you can run Linux on your game console!
Or it might become like the movies, first you can only play the games on onLive and other such streaming services, while the physical game won't come out until half a year later.
And why compare it with Kinect? I don't see Sony suing anyone for expirimenting with the move on a pc, or Nintendo suing people for using the wiimote in different ways. It's about the software, not the hardware. You can do anything you want with the hardware, just not alter the OS software.
Anyway interesting legal dispute whether the encryption key is part of the hardware or the software.
