Lets say the rumor of Halo CE remake this fall is even true (it probably is), that still puts them well behind the pace of Sony with KZ and UC.
Overall I dont look at Sony and think they have a great library. Most of their games dont interest me, or just look average and uninspired (such titles include Motorstorm, Socom, LBP, iNfamous,etc). Uncharted 2 I honestly didn't like much, especially if you take away the graphics. Killzone I consider a solid, but not great, franchise. I would say Microsoft just with only the Halo and Gears series alone is a better publisher to my tastes, and EA is another, with Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, and Battlefield series all drawing interest from me, as well as a deep and varied slate of other titles. |
Now lets be fair shall we and look at times scales. Killzone was out in 2004, Liberation was out in 2006 (on a handheld), Killzone 2 out in 2009, Killzone 3 isn't out yet and the NGP title won't be out until the console is and beyond, whenever that is... so currently we have had 1 main game released 2 years ago and 1 spin off from nigh on 5 years ago and 1 sequal about to be released.
Uncharted would have been indevelopment for a few years, they released the first then on a 2 year cycle released the others, well 1 infact because the other isn't out yet, it's 8 months away.
In the case of Halo, the first 3 games were well spread out, one development team on them after all. Then in 2009 and 2010 MS release 3 games. Although none are planned for the future at this very moment (they will be).
So ignoring the future games and going back say to when Halo 3 was released (this generation of games) we've had 4 Halo games, 1 Killzone and 2 Uncharted.
But hey, none of these are close to Activisions Call Of Duty games which have had...oh wait...4, nevermind.
