The interesting thing not mentioned about the PSEye in the Motion Wars is that it too has microphones (as did the Eyetoy). I believe PSEye as 2 mics? So while the comparison mentions the potential of Kinect for video chat and voice recognition, it fails to mention that PSEye can do the same, especially video chat.

Basically from a practical functionality perspective (though not a technological perspective) Kinect is 2 PSEyes duct taped together. Or rather 2 PSEyes duct taped about 15 CM apart. 2 PSEyes set up with optimal distance between them can effectively do 3D motion detection, and directional sound detection with functionally the same outcome for most practical gaming applications as Kinect. The question would be whether the PS3 has the processing power to deal with 2 incoming images to resolve into 3D motion control as well as do all the other processing for a game. Kinect has some built in processing meaning less of a drain on the 360's CPU.

I think, because Kinect has really captured America's attention, Sony is going to have to do a binocular PSEye at some point to provide full body 3D motion tracking.
