if all you care is save games ( and really you should not care about anything else as you can redownload your PSN purchases) there is a simpler way to do this.
Get a USB key, copy your saves to the key, plug the key in the new PS3, copy the saves there, that's all there is...
Only issue is for a few rare games the saves are tied to the PS3 so you won't be able to transfert those that way ( the only one I know of is Dragon Age).
PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !
PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
