The rant is barking up the wrong tree.
The reason why PC gaming isn't so hot in the west is thus:
PC required to do basic web surfing and office work.
- Pentium 4 1.8 - P4 2.8Ghz
- 512-1GB RAM
- 80GB HDD
- Integrated POS graphics
- Windows XP
The PC required to play Crysis 2
- Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz
- 2GB RAM
- 80GB HDD
- 8800GT graphics card
- Windows XP
I know heaps of people with really really really old PCs who can't be arsed to upgrade them. Mentally its just easier to think 'console = games' than go through the multiple step process of figuring out a new computer purchase.
