Did anyone actually read the article?
Apparently, Pioneer have figured out a way to to display "true black" on their plasma panels. They claim that their TV will be rendered invisible if it's displaying a black picture in an un-lit room. This effectively means that their new panels have a contrast ratio of... infinity! (well, at least based on how they're measured by industry today).
If the above is true, then I can understand his claim that their new 720p sets will blow away any TV on the market.
