This. SO MUCH THIS.
You can blame gimped controls all you want, but the PSP God of War games were also far shorter and uglier than their console counterparts, and they were made by a third party instead of the original developers. Anybody in their right mind would prefer to play the actual trilogy, even if the PSP had dual analog controls. And controls wouldn't have been an issue at all if developers hadn't focused on making console clones. Guerrilla Games did things right with Killzone: Liberation, though the game had its problems in other areas. If only more of Sony's internal studios had taken the platform seriously. However, I think NGP will do much better in this regard. Just looking at Uncharted, it makes heavy use of touch controls for things like maps and whatnot, helping to differentiate itself from its console brethren instead of simply being an inferior clone. Though most of the additions we've seen so far are gimmicky and superficial at best. |

Are you serious? For years all people complained about was the PSP crappy control, it was a huge flaw, and was the most wanted fix on the PSP.
I've played both GOW games, and throughout my times, I never cared on how short or how it looked, i really missed how it controlled on the PS3. The stories are better on the PSP, it's just as epic and frankly some of the best games on the PSP. The only thing it was missing was in the control area.
And yes I agree Sony also messed up with the PSP, but I feel that their biggest mistake was the making a non touch PSP with a crappy controller.
