It's actually impossible NGP will cost less than 300$, and since the PSP is significantly cheaper than that, it was obvious they would have never discontinued it. But, since PSP is selling not that good, things will get worse after 3DS and NGP launch, so don't expect many units sold in 2012...

Well dropping the PSP to $100 and the PSP Go to $125 would do wonders in keeping it around. Sony could also start pushing the Go more, since it's in a similar situation as the NGP will be. They both don't play UMD's.

...really? No backwards compatability?

Also, agreed. There needs to be compelling games to push it, and for me, the connectivity isn't doing it for me. And when it's likely to be $100 higher than its rival at launch, when its rival has 3D, a name behind it and time on the market to grab early adopters, it's once again looking uphill for Sony :/

Besides digital and other content saved to your Memory Stick, then no it doesn't. Of course over the last year I've purchased about 95% of my games from the PStore. So it wouldn't bother me to much. I'll still have my PSP-2000 around if I want to play any of my 50 to 60 games on UMD.

I was actually thinking about buying a Go over the holiday season, but wanted to wait to see if Sony was going to officially announce the PSP2.

Oh, that's...a shame

Good job you waited then

Well I may still get one, since everything I do currently on my PSP-2000 is digital. Crimson Gem Saga, Cladun and Patapon 2 are my current games, I also play alot of Minis (I'm PlayStation Plus).

But I will keep my 2000 for the UMD's or trade it towards a 3000 and get the Go.

Well now that I think about it, the NGP will play PSP games through the PlayStation Store, so no real reason to get one, except to say I have one and that would be a waste.
