In pretty much every field there are people who are better at it and others who are worse. This applies to everything from making a pancake to sports to writing and journalism.
Couple that to a time when news and comments are 24 hours and there is more demand for content than really exists and an online/internet based community and you get pretty poor standards, uninformed opinions and a larger than previously existed amount of missinformation, attention getting comments.
I'd love to see standards improve but that would require a sensible feedback and editorial system which simply doesn't exist at the moment or at least is a pale imitation of what editorial standards used to be.
But on the other hand the internet is cool, it's good people have a more open platform to communicate so I guess it's a case of taking the good with the bad.
I'd still like to see more effort to minimize the bad thought. I sometimes wonder if the real issue is too many people taking the "that's just the way it is" attitude vs "let's push for improvement" attitude.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
