Haha... no it isn't.  I'd certainly like to meet an average person from MIT that went to 20% of their classes, because it would be fun to ask them why they failed out.

And school in India is mostly a joke.  That's why they all come to the US to get their educations, and then head back home to work for pennies on the dollar.

IIT is ranked among the best schools in the world...

Indian students that comes to study in the US are those that didn't get into IIT...

And Indian students in the US are among the best in in engineering...

Yep. At UCLA, a large portion of the CS and EE majors are Indian. I interned at Qualcomm this past summer/fall, and I'd say 40% of the engineers there were Indian, maybe even more.

Also true is the not studying in IIT thing. One of my friends did undergrad at IIT; he studied his ass off in high school, then at IIT all he did was play WoW.
