Technically the DS is certainly not the leading edge portable in performance far from it.
But it has it's own strengths in spite of being overpowered seriously by the PSP.
The lower performance and thus lower cost has boosted it's sales well above the PSP,
however people buy them for competley different reasons.
PSP is a portable multimedia powerhouse , with a graphical capability exceeding any other device of this size - (2 Mips4000 CPUS at 333Mhz and a dual 128bit custom graphics chipset in a 200gram bar), with a decent sized LCD and 64Mb ram, wifi, add on camera, GPS receiver ,DTV tuner etc.
The price hardly reflects the technology in it anyone after a portable movie player , or graphically intensive games player here it is. Selling over 20 Million units is outstanding.
Think many people who get them get it not for it's games but the multimedia capability, and if the skype software for it works ok i will probably get one just for that feature .
