That's true. FMVs (and the space they demanded) are the only real reason why FFVII was impossible to do on the N64. But the point is that instead of using several cartridges, it would have been one big (and overly expensive) cartridge.
Similar to NeoGeo games in the early '90s. While SNES and Genesis games mostly had about 2MB, NeoGeo games had 30MB, resulting in enormous prices for the cartridges, 2-3 times as high as SNES/Genesis games. |
Didn't the N64 version of RE2 have in-engine FMVs while the ps1 version had CGI FMVs?
