In high school my average was like a 4.5, because they weighted honors classes more heavily than regular classes.  A typical honors class could net you as high as a 5.0, and an AP class went all the way up to 6.0.

I thought 4.0 was the max? Your grading system is so weird and confusing.

Yeah, that was just in high school.  Non-honors courses still topped out at 4.0.

It was just something special they did so people taking more challenging classes would have that show via their GPA.  I don't know of any other school that has used this system.
