Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski is widely known for being an outspoken game designer: keen to share his mind and never too far from a snide comment. From his remarks concerning articles discussing his games to suggestions about other teams’ works, Bleszinski (or Cliffy B, as he is often known) whips the media and fans into a frenzy like a 90’s heyday Spice Girl, offering inherently quotable comments via his personal Twitter account near daily, and today has been no exception to that rule.

Currently hard at work promoting the forthcoming Bulletstorm from Epic Games and subsidiary studio People Can Fly, and by all accounts doing a very good job of it, Cliffy B offered his followersone tastefully sarcastic snippet this evening. While his brainchild franchise, Gears of War, remains a Microsoft exclusive at present, Bulletstorm is a multi-format title, yet Cliffy B is acutely aware of how the ‘console wars’ operate between fans, stoking the fire by sarcastically suggesting that, “The real reason Bulletstorm was built was because Gears [of War] wasn't ready for this spring and we needed a product to fuck with Killzone.”

Guaranteed to grab headlines, just as he has here, Cliffy B has surely made one of the leading talking points of the videogames industry today. Quite a feat, considering the many high- and lowlights that today has brought. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest wise and insightful comments from Cliffy B, and more importantly, the forthcoming release of Bulletstorm.
