The GC suffered from a vicious cycle. As it's shelf space shrank, people's demand for it and it's games fell, which in tern led to shrinking shelf space in shops.
From 2004 onwards, my local GAME only had 1 set of shelf for GC, holding all new and pre-owned games and accesories. Places like WHSmith and HMV stopped selling GC stuff in store.
I remember pre-ordering LEGO Star Wars II for the GC quite a few years ago. When I came to collect it in store, they didn't stock any GC versions, despite my valid pre-order for the GC game. I probably should have just settled for the PS2 version, but being a stubborn 14 year old at the time I waited the best part of the week until they got it from another one of their stores.
