Why isn't our Governments putting pressure on Afghanistan?

The intervention WAS NOT a waste of time, it's just that it served some purpose different from public view. Look at opium's production for example. Middle East is and always was used as weapon against commies, to say that controlling Afgan is a waste of time is just stupid.
