Oh dear.

Initially I was sceptical about this story, but a little research shows that it was true. The reason that I was sceptical is that it is in article 2 of the UN universal declaration of human rights, which I believe Afghanistan have to follow, that no one shall have distinction made by their government based on their religion. They are breaking this code if they execute this convert. Heck, they are breaking the law if they give him a slap on the wrist.

If they do go through with this then I should hope that the whole world who abide by the universal declaration of human rights condemns them for their actions.

I think people should have the right to believe whatever religion they like.

North Korea's on the declaration of Human Rights too. Most of them sign it with riding waivers that more or less state "we'll observe the parts of this that we want to observe" (which is the case with a lot of western countries, too)

The major difference is North Korea isn't getting billions of dollars in support and being propped up by Western countries. Afghanistan's Government was put in place to keep extremists out, to create a democratic country that would help North America and Europe hunt down Osama and keep terrorists out of control.

Why should Canada, US , UK and the dozen or so other countries in Afghanistan help Karzai if his Government is going to do the exact same thing as the Taliban they are fighting? Karzai signed the Decleration of Human Rights to show that Afghanistan was becoming a moderate modern nation.

Killing a man because of his fiath is a major issue and our governments should not stand idol as Afghanistan does so. Our leaders should publically condem it and maybe even take action against it. If it means threatening financial support or military support then we should do so.

I wonder what Karzai would say if Canada threatened to not train the Afghan National Army if they executed Christian's? Or if Canada threatened to reduce aid. or if any western country threatened to do so. I think our countries should expect more from Afghanistan, our soldeirs are being slaughtered to keep this Government in power and as such the Afghan government should abide by its agreements and listen to our countries concerns.
