For me, it's a trade-off; I'm fortunate enough to be currently employed at a job that pays me very well, but not fortunate enough to have the free time to take advantage of having all three consoles.
This gen I have bought 2 PS3's, 2 Wiis and 3 360's: I have "loaned" (given) my nephews my white original Wii (I bought and kept a black one) my 60GB PS3 (I recently, as noted, bought and kept the Slim) and my Elite 360 (I sold my old Pro and still have my redesigned 360).
For what it's worth, I may be getting laid off soon and will have to learn to live without all the extra cash!
