For the above reason, I usually start my MP FPS games a "slow" i.e sucky. I started CoD4 with a KDR of 0.9 and fared even worse with an 0.7 on KZ2As you can see, with how much I sucked at the start of KZ2, I should've quit. WHy didn't I? Game was too damned addictive. I've now burnt 88days of my life on KZ2's MP and many in the community call me a "beast" but it took me 20 days, yes 20 days to get good. This is not the case with KZ3. I started off with a 1.50 KDR this time but after a couple hours, I'm already tired of the MP and just can't play it anymore. Flaws: 1. The biggest dissapointment of all is the lack of custom games. Did anyone complain about this in KZ2? No. WHy did GG get rid of this? that feature made KZ@ by far the best FPS this gen IMO. If you didn't like "x" feature, you could play a game without it, you want pistols only, you got it, bodycount only? you got it, 4v4? you got it, etc. WHy did this freedom have to go? People who've been playing shooters with matchmaking wouldn't mind but I just cant play those anymore. 2. As an off-shoot of point 1, game modes are too short and this time, we can't edit them. TDM aka bodycount aka, Guerilla warfare is 5 MINS LONG! 5 pathetic mins....I probably spend the same amount of time watching the loading screen as I spend playing. Operations is just a gimmick mode that will surely get old quick as its just cnh snd with the same cutscenes over and over again. Warzone is the only viable mode but the individual objectives are next to impossible to do under the time limit so in most cases, the time is up before you can even get to the action. For someone who got used to playing warzones with 15-30 mins/round in kz2 like myself, this game is impossible to play. 3. Brutal melee. You know you have a problem when it's better to run up to someone to melee quickly instead of actually shooting. 4. TSPs. Spawn camping was bad in kz2 when you had n00b tacs. It's worse in kz3 now that everyone knows where the spawns are. Some of my best killstreaks are from camping spawns...thats the best way to find people anyway. It doesn't help that 2 out of 3 TSPs are close to the ISA base. When you're up against a superior team who manages to capture all 3 TSPs, its base r4pe till gameover...no way out in kz3. 5. F'd weapon distribution and other things. This is mostly because of the fact that the marksman has an assault rifle now...wtf? This one, I just cn't comprehend. Someone still needs to explain how they came up with the ingenius idea. These guys can scramble the radar and stay invisible too. They also have a silenced machine pistol so their cloak never gets exposed and can camp corners invisible to melee you when you walk by...yay! The most selfish class gets the biggest upgrade.Dont get me started on the infiltrator. 6. No recoil, no bullet spread = super accurate weapons. Add in ribbon gimmicks and you have a twitch shooter now. It's almost a first to spot issue ala COD now. No toggling bullets, no controlled bursts, just zoom in and hold R1. Guns like the STA52SE are pretty much 1-burst kill ala cod4's m16 and MW2's FAMAS. 7. Kz2 was an action packed game. KZ3 = hide and seek. When I spawned in kz2, I instantly knew where the action was and ran there immediately. In kz3, I'm always searching for the action only to get melleed in the back or sniped before getting there. For this one, I can't put my finger on exactly whats wrong but somethings just isn't right. Could be the reduced player count but I just dont know. It certainly takes chunks away from the "fun factor" for me. 7. The controls. This one is not such a big deal as I could get used to it but its just sad when a company abandons their original vision that they defended for so long. It's like those of us who stuck with them took a kick in the face but that one is philosophical. The controls seem more responsive to many now but are actually worse than kz2's in one regard many may not notice 'cept they played its predecessor in depth: for some reason, it feels like one ate a bag of snails when trying to move and shoot at the same time with an automatic weapon while in kz2, you stayed light on your feet. //end rant. Kudos to anyone who read the whole thing. |
My opinion:
1) Guerilla has confirmed custom games. Not sure how they're going to do it, but they did confirm it on the KZ forums.
2) Agree there, usually takes forever to get into the action, if you can find it.
3) You can't just run up to people and brutal melee them. I've tried, and sometimes they can still shoot you a few half-seconds after the Brutal Melee gets activated. I've killed melee'ers as well, so it works for both sides.
4) This happens in all games with set spawnpoints... BFBC2 as well. Nothing you can really do about it but leave game [which IS a valid technique... If you're being spawncamped, LEAVE. Don't know how often I tell this to people...] but it's better than spawn grenades and stupid teammates using up the two spawn grenade slots, or spawn grenades right next to an objective, making it chaos, but not fun.
5) Every class has a counter. The tactician can counter the Recon and Infiltrater classes using their ability. Plus, it's better than snipers who camp a mile away; at least now Recons are effective, because it takes so many points to invest.
6) Agree there, when you improve the controls = there should be more recoil, Guerilla... not less.
7) When you develop a game, and more people are attacking the concept rather than defending it, you know you need to change it. "for some reason, it feels like one ate a bag of snails when trying to move and shoot at the same time with an automatic weapon while in kz2, you stayed light on your feet." Lolwut? I don't really know what you're saying here, but if you're saying that in KZ2 you were light on your feet, while in KZ3 you are more like wading in a swamp well... You may need to get your controller checked. About 90% of people like KZ3's new controls, so Guerilla did their job right.
This is of course my opinion to your replies, so feel free to read if anyone has the attention span
