Keep in mind Kruze that Blu-Ray is still in it's infancy and will continue to drop in price. Sony and all the movie companies, and manufacturers of the players know that in order for their merchandise to really take off it will have to continue to drop in price at a fairly rapid rate.

Look at DVD players when they started to hit retailers. $300 minimum to buy a dvd player (which I bought one at that point), and within 2 years it was sub $100 for a player. Once one format has won, I really do think that the prices will continue to drop on the players rapidly. As long as many manufacturers make the players, it will force competition to drop prices down, where if they aren't quite sure what format will win out, it will make the price drops happen at a slower rate because consumers won't adopt to any of the new technologies for fear of their player becoming obsolete by losing the format war.

yea because the company is willing to lose more because they know they will gain it back but when there a formate war then they do not wanna go all in because there is a chance they wont get it back. alos i think bluray has won look http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/paramount-following-warner-out-the-hd-dvd-door/
