Brussee on Killzone 3: ‘1080p not possible due to amount of things in place’

friday, 04 February 2011 15:00 Kev J.

having revealed that Killzone 3 is perhaps the most challenging videogame title the PlayStation 3 console has ever been tasked with running, Director of Production Arjan Brussee has stated that the game will be limited to a high-defintion frequency of 780p. Not exactly a disadvantage for the game however, as the reason for this limitation is simply becuase there is so much happening at any one time that the effect of the gameplay would be diminished were it to be pushed to 1080p.

there have been numerous reports this week concerning the use of PlayStation 3 hardware thanks to Sony Computer Entertianment Europe (SCEE) hosting a press event in London to showcase much of their early 2011 PlayStation 3 line-up. Both Killzone 3 and Evolution Studios’ MotorStorm Apoclaypse were cited as utlising  the ‘full power’ of the PlayStation 3 system, but then many titles have previously. In fact, such a suggestion is relatively meaningless without supporting evidence, which Brussee has now offered for Killzone 3.

By suggesting to Eurogamer that the game is not able to deliver the top-tier of technical accomplishment due to the scale of it’s design, Brussee has offered a solid foundation for the suggestion that the PlayStation 3 has been pushed as far as it will go. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on Killzone 3.
