I'm a linux man myself.. preference is PCLinuxOS (get the free .iso download at pclinuxos.com). Can boot from the livecd and try before you fly. Then dual boot (or single boot) winblows and Linux.. so you loose nothing, gain so much. (or you can run Windows insides linux via vmware). I'm definately NOT a windows person nor a Mac person. At all. I was an Amiga person... waiting for something better than Windows or Mac and PCLinuxOS fits the bill for me.
