The major benefit is that with the NGP and PS3 being able perform virtually the same tasks (it may not be quite as powerful, but it also doesn't have to render everything on a huge screen either...so it doesn't necessarily have to, to produce the same results....hell, the GPU's better than the PS3's as it is), Indie devs will be able to sell the same IP to both PS3 and NGP owners. Additionally, Sony has a fund setup for Indie devs, that covers their entire dev costs up front. Yes, it requires PSN exclusivity, however, given they now have to major hardware sources to tap into for revenue, it's a bit more attractive an offer than when it was just the PS3. |
