I think "core" games(or whatever the hell you call it) can sell on the Wii. All three consoles have had their hits and misses. It's just that people notice it more on the Wii because it has far less "core" games being released while the HD consoles have them coming monthly.
I find it hard to believe that out of 84 million people that own a Wii there aren't AT LEAST 3 million that are interested in those kinds of games.
