This isn't really specific to neocons. Every major political leader and most news networks have taken a questionable stance on the Egyptian revolution, from Obama initially asking for mere reforms from Mubarak's administration, to Hilary Clinton outright expressing support for Mubarak, to CNN, FNC, and the like all playing up the Muslim Brotherhood angle, implying heavily that the Egyptian Revolution could only have a negative outcome.
Few people in Washington legitimately care about spreading democracy to other nations. They just care about whether said nations have a positive relationship with the US. Just look at how we treat Suadi Arabia.
Of course, they'll gladly play up the democracy angle if it helps get people on board with their questionable foreign policy (ie, Iraq).
