Well see what people who you have close tastes with think is better. If some honestly prefer the NGP games, go with that. If they prefer the 3DS games, go with that.
Me, I'm waiting on both until the libraries are a sure thing, which I do with most systems I get anyway.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
