For use at home or on long trips the size of the PSP2 isn't that bad because it doesn't have to be that portable to move from room to room, or to put into a bag that you're bringing with you anyways. On the other hand, unless you always have a back-pack or man-purse, the size of the PSP2 makes it not particularly ideal for carrying with you wherever you go.
Depending on how the average person envisions their usage of a system when they're considering the PSP2, the size may or may not be seen as a negative.
With that said, if the PSP2 gains a reputation of being "too large" because of how its size compares to the iPod/iPhone or 3DS the reputation could be far more of a negative than the size actually is.
