They aren't banning innocent people, they are banning cheaters.
Personally, I think it'd be really cool if they would be able to ban a console from PSN altogether were it to cheat on any game. No more trophies, no more online, no more nothing. Bash the fucking losers into the ground and keep them down.
I've kind of wondered what exactly goes through a cheaters mind when all of a sudden his console says it has been permanently banned from a game...lmfao, did they really think they wouldn't get caught?
On another note, I have to say, I did NOT expect something that seems to be this effective coming out this quickly...congrats to Sony on that one.
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
